This project was created for the Partizanke Art exhibition at HGB Gallery in Leipzig. It focuses on the role of female partisans in former Yugoslavia during World War II—a topic that has received little attention.

In March 2025, I spent four days in Belgrade researching these women. I worked in the Archive of Yugoslavia and the Museum of Yugoslavia and walked through key sites in the city. What started as a search for historical records quickly revealed how current events can disrupt and reshape our understanding of the past.

The installation includes about 40 large-format photographs displayed throughout the gallery. Each image is paired with a brief handwritten note that provides context. The series begins at Sajmište, the former concentration camp, then moves to the archive, the museum, and the Generalštab building. It also touches on the Kosovo–Serbia conflict and recent government protests, linking wartime history with today’s social and political realities.
